RED HAT Micro-Winery began as a dream to share the special experience of visiting a small family winery with Metro Detroit. Designed to showcase not only winemaking and the wine, but the passion and the pride that come from winemakers doing what they love and doing it well. Also special is the ambiance of each family winery, like visiting a friend's home, each is different and reflects the unique personality of its owners.

RED HAT is our family winery. Starting from a father and son's creation of a new concept in family winemaking, RED HAT has grown and matured into a special experience for tasting, enjoying, and learning about and acquiring wine. Still missing is the pretentious nature of some wine experiences that can make some of us uncomfortable, RED HAT focuses on a simple mission that invites everyone, from the very experienced to those just learning to enjoy wine, the opportunity to explore the special experience wine has to offer.

RED HAT is an "urban winery". The beauty of an urban winery is that we don't grow grapes, our vineyard partners do. Because we are not tied to a single vineyard; we are able to bring you a large variety of the finest grapes from their best regions to make our wines. This approach allows us the opportunity to produce over forty different wines from over twenty different varietal grapes from at least twelve countries. We are always finding new varieties and regions to explore together, creating new and interesting taste experiences.

RED HAT is a micro-winery. This means we carefully produce wine in small custom vintage batches for each of our customers. Because we can produce in small batches, we are able to custom make your wine. A little drier, more oak or less, is all possible when you have RED HAT as your custom winemakers. You bottle your own batch and custom label with your private vintage label.
